Why is stuff so hard to open?

So, I've been up to a computer shop and bought some crap I really don't need and can't afford, and I can't open any of it.

It's all sealed in this double reinforced plastic shells that require a crowbar and a kitchen knife to get anywhere near opening it. This stuff is probably kevlar. It's that bloody impossible to get near the goods that I'm more likely to lose a finger than actually touch the frigging headphones or the little flash drive.

So, I reach for a new pair of scissors to hack away, and I can't even open the packaging for that! I need a pair of scissors to open the pair of scissors.
